Marlborough, MA—Diamond Machining Technology (DMT®) is proud to announce that its revolutionary new Diamond Wave™ Sharpener has been chosen as a finalist in the prestigious Spark Awards design competition. The Spark Awards recognize all types of design that demonstrate outstanding creativity, craft and innovation with a mission of promoting better living through better design. Spark is all about designed change for the better: studied, researched and cognizant of criteria like sustainability, suitability, context, inventiveness, process and universality.

"I enjoyed designing the Diamond Wave, creating a cutting-edge sharpener that is truly one-of-a-kind. To have it chosen as a finalist for the Spark Awards is such an honor," said DMT Technical Director Stan Watson. "At DMT, we pride ourselves on producing groundbreaking innovations to keep up with the ever-changing needs of woodworkers, gardeners, outdoor and winter sports enthusiasts, chefs and others. When that work ethic is recognized by independent sources like Spark, it makes our efforts all the more rewarding."

The DMT Diamond Wave is the first ever diamond sharpener to combine convex and concave abrasive surfaces. It is ideal for woodworkers, carvers and wood turners, but suitable for anyone who works with curved-edge tools. Constructed with a precisely micronized, monocrystaline diamond coating on a steel substrate, the Diamond Wave provides smooth and even-stock removal and sharpening without errant scratches. Its durable abrasive surface will not chip, crack, hollow or groove and the Diamond Wave will not break, even if dropped.

The unique design of this pioneering innovation sharpens much faster and enables longer sharpening strokes than traditional conventional slip stones, providing radii from 1/16" (1.6mm) to 1" (25.4mm) to accommodate a wide range of curved gouges. The Diamond Wave is available in Fine grit (25 micron/600 mesh) and Extra-Fine grit (9 micron/1200 mesh), so it is capable of sharpening and refining to a razor’s edge. No lubrication is required, and it comes with a non-skid mat to secure the sharpening surface.

DMT Diamond Sharpeners are known for their ease-of-use, durable construction, quality and reputation for providing years of uncompromising service. For more than 30 years, DMT has been the innovator in developing diamond sharpening products that are dependable and solve a multitude of sharpening, honing or deburring needs. The company’s patented and award-winning products allow for sharpening in a fraction of the time required by other methods and are popular with woodworkers, chefs, and gardeners and even excellent for camping, hiking, skiing, hunting, fishing and in the workshop.
